Your privacy matters greatly to us: we treat your data carefully and confidentially, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

1. Who is responsible?

The controller is Jeremy Francois, trading as Buzzterz, Maasbeekstraat 1, 3945 Tessenderlo-Ham, company number BE1037.802.208. Send questions about this privacy policy to info@buzzterz.be or call +32 499 22 51 33.

2. What personal data do we process?

We only process the data strictly needed for the purposes below. Your data is never sold and never used for advertising, marketing or AI.

  • Online request: first name, last name, email address, phone number, municipality and address, the subject of your question, the location and estimated height of the nest, your message and – if you add one – a photo of the nest.
  • Honey order: first name, last name, email address, mobile number, your order, the chosen delivery option (and your address for delivery), the chosen payment method and any additional information.
  • Technical data: like any website, our server receives technical data during a visit: your IP address, browser and operating system, the page visited, the page you came from and the time. We use these for security, to keep the website working properly and for visitor statistics (see section 7).

3. Why, and on what legal basis?

PurposeLegal basis (Art. 6 GDPR)
Answering your request, planning and carrying out a call-outPerformance of a contract or pre-contractual steps at your request
Processing, preparing or delivering your honey orderPerformance of a contract
Invoicing and accountingLegal obligation
Securing the website and preventing abuse (spam)Legitimate interest
Keeping visitor statistics to improve the websiteLegitimate interest (no cookies or tracking)
Checking your address as soon as you type a house numberLegitimate interest (accurate addresses), only when you type in the address field yourself

Where we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

4. Address lookup while you type

To avoid typos in your address, the Street & number field shows suggestions as you type. We look up street names in a list hosted on our own website (source: Basisregisters Vlaanderen); nothing is sent anywhere for this.

Only when you type a house number is the text from that field sent to Geopunt, the official address register of the Flemish government (Digitaal Vlaanderen, Belgium), to find the right postcode. No name, email address, phone number or cookies are sent, nor the page you are on.

5. Who do we share your data with?

We never share your data with third parties for their own purposes. As far as possible, we work with service providers within the European Union:

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Nuremberg, Germany) – hosting of the website on 100% renewable energy. The forms are processed on our own server, sent to us by email and stored encrypted in our own admin area, which only we can open with a password and two-step verification.
  • Geopunt / Digitaal Vlaanderen – see section 4.
  • Payment services, only if you choose them: Revolut Bank UAB (Lithuania) for online payments, Wero (European Payments Initiative, Belgium) or Bancontact (Bancontact Payconiq Company, Belgium). We only receive the payment confirmation.
  • Apple Distribution International (Ireland), via iCloud Mail – our email address info@buzzterz.be. Messages you send us, including through the forms, end up in this mailbox.
  • Our accountant, for invoices and statutory returns.

Your data is not transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area, with one exception: Apple may also process emails in the United States. That transfer is based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, under which Apple is certified.

6. How long do we keep your data?

  • Requests without an assignment: up to 1 year after our last contact.
  • Completed call-outs and orders: as long as needed for the guarantee and follow-up, and then as long as accounting and tax law requires (currently up to 10 years for invoices).
  • Photos of nests: deleted as soon as your request has been handled, unless they form part of an invoice file.
  • Encrypted copy in our admin area: deleted automatically 1 year after the last change, or sooner at your request.
  • Technical data in the web server's log files and visitor statistics: with the full IP address up to 14 days, then only anonymous totals without IP addresses (such as visits per page or per country) for up to 13 months. The mail server log (sender and recipient addresses, no content): up to 5 weeks.
  • Blocked IP addresses after repeated attacks or abuse: from 1 day to at most 4 weeks.

7. Cookies, tracking and statistics

This website uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising or social media plugins and no external fonts. All images, scripts and styles are loaded from our own server. That's why we don't ask for your consent to cookies.

Visitor statistics come from our own server's log files: no cookies, no tracking scripts and no external services. We derive your region (country, province, municipality) from your IP address using a database on our own server (DB-IP); your IP address is not sent anywhere for this. You can object to this processing (see section 9).

8. Security

The website is only reachable over a secure connection (HTTPS). A strict Content Security Policy lets the page communicate only with our own server and the address register from section 4, an invisible check field stops spam bots, and the number of form submissions per visitor is limited. Security incidents are recorded with the IP address in the web server logs (up to 14 days), so that repeated attacks can be blocked temporarily and automatically.

Found a security issue? Read our security policy and report it via security@buzzterz.be.

9. Your rights (access, rectification, erasure)

You have the right to access your personal data and to have it corrected or erased. You can also object to processing, have processing restricted and have your data transferred.

Send your request to info@buzzterz.be. Buzzterz replies as quickly as possible and at the latest within one month of receipt. To make sure the request comes from you, we may ask for additional identification.

10. Right to complain

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please let us know first. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian supervisory authority: the Data Protection Authority (DPA), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels – www.dataprotectionauthority.be.

11. Competent courts

This privacy policy is governed by Belgian law. In the event of a legal dispute, only the following courts have jurisdiction:

  • B2B: Enterprise Court of Antwerp (Hasselt division)
  • B2C: Court of First Instance of Limburg (Hasselt division)

12. Changes

We may update this privacy policy, for example when we offer new services. The latest version is always on this page, with the date at the top. Still have questions after reading it? Feel free to get in touch.
